Dora Leu is een Roemeense filmcriticus en filmmaker, momenteel gevestigd in Dublin. Ze werkt als programmator voor het Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (BIEFF) en voor het feministische filminitiatief F-SIDES. Momenteel doet ze onderzoek naar videonostalgie en de rol die cassettemedia spelen bij het beschrijven van hedendaagse identiteiten op het scherm aan het Trinity College in Dublin. Dora schrijft vaak over Oost-Aziatische cinema, met een focus op Japan en Hongkong. Ze bewaart een foto van Leslie Cheung in haar portemonnee.

Dora Leu nam deel aan de poll “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, een unieke publieksbevraging als collectieve liefdesbrief aan de kunst van de korte film. yanco en Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in samenwerking met Talking Shorts, nodigden filmmakers, curatoren, distributeurs, critici en academici wereldwijd uit om tien audiovisuele werken van minder dan zestig minuten te nomineren die zij persoonlijk beschouwen als de “beste” aller tijden. Dit was de inzending van Dora Leu:
This is less a testament to any canonical “greatest” of all cinema, and more a testament to myself at this moment in time—if asked next week, and the week after, I would give two very different answers. To pick a list of only 10 always ends up being somewhat restrictive, so for my list below, I’d precede the name of the directors (plus one band!) over the films themselves. Nothing is ranked.
