    Buster Keaton, USA, 1927, 44’

    During his heyday, Buster Keaton was also known as The Great Stone Face. The American comedian is best known for his silent films, which focus on physical comedy and his deadpan facial expressions.

    In Sherlock Jr., Buster Keaton plays a young projectionist who dreams of becoming a great detective. He tries to win a girl’s hand but is accused of stealing her father’s watch. When he falls asleep, he dreams of a life as the world's greatest detective.

    Joseph Frank “Buster” Keaton (1895–1966) was an American comic actor and filmmaker. Arguably the greatest comic genius of the silent era, Buster Keaton turned the adage “less is more” into slapstick gold, using his perpetually passive, poker-faced visage to wring laughs from the most absurd situations. His consistently stoic, deadpan expression earned him the nickname The Great Stone Face. With innovative films like Sherlock Jr., The General, and Steamboat Bill, Jr., Keaton took silent comedy to new heights of astonishing ambition.
