    GeoMarkr

    Lého Galibert-Laîné, France, 2023, 22’

This film brings two worlds into dialogue: the online game GeoGuessr, where players deduce locations from Google Street View images, and the filmography of Chris Marker, a filmmaker and multimedia artist deeply fascinated by digital technology and travel.

The film mimics the game’s interface and camera movements, but players are not dropped into random geographic locations: here, they explore places from Chris Marker’s filmography. The film grew out of an essay by video game scholar Guillaume Grandjean’s essay, who also appears as one of the players in the film. This polyphonic work questions modern world-exploration practices through its aesthetics and politics.

    Flavia Regaldo, Portugal, 2023, 7’

Hand-painted watercolours explore bodies, desire, and the tension between both in this experimental animated film. Alternating colours, lines, and density, the drawings question pornography and normative sexuality.
