A journey to the underworld begins within our own entrails, shaped by what we consume: meat, or the softened crumbs moistened by our mothers’ saliva. This film explores the intimate rhythm of digestion only to next investigate the becoming of geological eras: stalagmites formed over millennia and fossilised dinosaur tracks are growling echoes of primordial movements. The film is inspired by Gamaliel Churata’s El Pez de Oro. In the chapter “Puro Andar”, he states, “we all carry the dead alive; that the dead live.”
Bio Luciana Decker Orozco
Luciana Decker Orozco (Bolivia, 1993) studied anthropology at UCB (Bolivia) and completed an MFA in Film at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Currently, she delves into the spectral essence of places, objects, and matter. She engages in this process by both revealing and concealing her presence, investigating the interstitial spaces where mediation and relationships unfold. Her films have been screened at festivals worldwide.
