Per Fikse

Per Fikse has been the festival director of Minimalen Short Film Festival in Trondheim since 1999, after joining as a programmer in 1994. His writing on film includes articles published in Short Film Studies (Intellect Books, peer reviewed), with recent papers exploring the particular qualities of short fiction and the relationship between art and mainstream cinema.

Per Fikse participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time. This was Per Fikse’s submission:

A canon is entusiasticly welcomed! However, 10 spots are just too few, so the candidate fight is fierce and unfair.
