Rubén Corral Giménez

Rubén Corral is a film curator and the Head of Programming at ZINEBI – International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao. He has curated film series on Spanish and Basque contemporary cinema for the Instituto Cervantes (Spain), the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (Germany), Indiana University Cinema (USA), Festival de Cinéma de la Ville de Québec (Canada), Filmoteca de Navarra (Spain), and Azkuna Center’s Cinematheque (Spain).

For ZINEBI, he also curated retrospectives devoted to the short films of Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Wang Bing, Marco Bellocchio, and Aki Kaurismäki, among others. Corral is a member of the European Film Academy and holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), a Master's in Multimedia Journalism, and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in the History of Spanish Cinema.

Rubén Corral Giménez participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time.
