double bill #7

For many in their youth, waiting becomes a way of living. Despite the rush and urgency of daily obligations, it is often those in-between moments that are remembered the most.

In Waithood, Louisiana Mees-Fongang captures a generation wandering across Athens’s rooftops, caught between exhaustion and desire. The city trembles with contradictions—gentrified yet broken, glittering yet hollow—while its youth is pushed to the sides, dreaming of a future that refuses to arrive. In Copa-Loca, Christos Massalas drifts through another kind of ghost town: an abandoned summer resort Paulina tends to with tenderness, her body becoming the heartbeat of a vanished paradise.

Both films move through decay with a strange serenity. Their worlds are crumbling, yet the camera lingers on what is gentle amid the rubble.
