Boris Hadžija

Boris Hadžija is a Berlin-based filmmaker and musician. After earning a degree in classical piano from the University of Arts in Belgrade, he pursued directing studies at the DFFB. He worked as a writer, director, producer, and editor on the Mother Trilogy—a series of short films that premiered for three consecutive years at the Locarno Film Festival and were all nominated for the German Film Award. In addition, he wrote and directed Yugotransport (2023), which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), as well as two short films commissioned by arte: Back to the West (2020) and A Simple Event (2021). He is a recipient of a DAAD scholarship.

Boris Hadžija participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time.
