Grief for his mother sends the titular Willy fleeing into the forest, where he’s confronted with the strange gentleness of a protective, woolly creature. In this soft, uncanny world, vulnerability is finally allowed to surface. Impossible Figures and Other Stories II takes a sharper approach: a woman wakes to discover her home has turned against logic. Walls contradict themselves, patterns multiply; and perfection becomes a trap.
