Chayanin Tiangpitayagorn is a Bangkok-based cinephile and an independent film critic. He started working for film magazines such as Starpics and Bioscope before expanding to other journals and online media publications. He’s serving as a jury for the Bangkok Critics Assembly Award, where he also leads the selection committee for its short film branches. Since 2013, he has co-curated Wildtype and Wildtype Middleclass, annually screening film programmes focusing on overlooked Thai independent films, and he has been a member of the selection committee for the Thai Short Film and Video Festival since 2022. Most recently, he joined the selection committee for Festival Film Dokumenter (2024), the SGIFF-SEA Shorts Grant selection committee (2025), and was a guest curator for the 7th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival (2025).

Chayanin Tiangpitayagorn participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time. I wish I had 30-40 choices to fill; this became a harder process than I thought, but also a very exciting one. Definitely, I’m looking forward to the very inaugural result and possibly a deeper dive in future short film polls: by decade, by region, or by practice, etc.
