Affonso Uchôa

Affonso Uchôa is a filmmaker based in Contagem, Brazil. He directed the films Mulher à tarde (Afternoon Woman, 2010), A viznhança do tigre (The Hidden Tiger, 2014) and, and Sete anos em maio (Seven Year May, 2019). He is also the co-director of Arábia (Araby, 2017). His films were screened in several important film festivals like as, such as IFFR (Netherlands), Viennale (Vienna), Toronto (Canada), Visions du Réel (Switzerland), Mostra de Tiradentes (Brazil), and del Plata (Argentina).

Affonso Uchôa participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time.
