double bill #15

Across continents and centuries, Diego Quinderé de Carvalho and Andrés Jurado search for what remains after extraction—of land, of memory, of spirit.

In 0,2 Milligrams of Gold, Quinderé de Carvalho offers an essayistic journey between the Amazon and the Ardennes, two forests shaped by unequal histories. One is impenetrable, the other, neatly ordered and accessible. Through the voices of a geologist, a gold miner, and an astronomer, the film stretches from soil to cosmos, tracing how human desire leaves its marks on the planet.

Myth becomes a vessel for rebellion in Yarokamena, where Jurado reclaims erased narratives as the spiritual powers of war: futuristic ruins collide with the story of the Uitoto resistance fighter who rose against the brutality of the rubber industry.

This double bill shows how landscapes remember what history tries to bury—offering visions of resistance that cross both space and era.

yanco’s double-bill series excavates personal or national Belgian archives—such as CINEMATEK, argos, Centre Vidéo de Bruxelles. A guest curator puts a Belgian work into dialogue with another short film, either formally or thematically. Each double bill is presented with a curatorial note and further contextualised by essays, articles, or interviews.
