Mélissa Bouchard

Melissa has been working in the wonderful world of short films for more than twenty years. After studying cinema at university, she distinguished herself as a director and worked as an editor on various projects. Between 2003 and 2009, she planned and organised nearly a hundred independent short film screenings and events. She joined REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival (Quebec, Canada) in 2009, and since then, she has devoted herself entirely to programming. She approaches programming shorts the way she would edit a film. Nothing is left to chance. Everything is connected.

Mélissa Bouchard participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time. This was Mélissa Bouchard’s submission:
