Mathieu Janssen

Mathieu Janssen, based in Nijmegen (the Netherlands), is artistic leader of Go Short - International Short Film Festival. After finishing his master’s in Sociology, he focused on journalism as a freelance writer and as a programmer of public debates on social issues at the local art institution. Born from his love for films, in 2013 he co-founded the screening collective Deep End Film, and in 2018 he began his work at Go Short. As a driving force in the program department, he is responsible for the competitive sections and out-of-competition programmes and is part of the selection committee.

Mathieu Janssen participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time.
