Edward Frumkin

Edward Frumkin is an American filmmaker and film critic. His bylines include IndieWire, The Daily Beast, BOMB, Interview, Reverse Shot, and more. His recent short film, Rap World Day, premiered at the 2025 Chicago Underground Film Festival.

Edward Frumkin participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time. This was Edward Frumkin’s submission:

Each film that I voted plays around with the form of the short/mid-length film, and its respective director makes calculated moves in telling their story in an appropriate amount of time and using cinema as an art form. Thank you yanco and Talking Shorts for organising this vital poll. These are the films that are on the forefront on my mind on 10/29/2025 and I don't expect all of them to still be there in my future ballots.
