Alicia Abieyuwa Bergamelli

Alicia Abieyuwa Bergamelli is a filmworker, film programmer, and filmmaker interested in magical realism, Gothic and body horror, experimental queer cinema, and Global South cinema. She is one of the 2025 Programmers of the Future at the EYE Filmmuseum, and she has also worked for the GoShort film festival and the Black Star Film festival. Additionally, she is a co-curator for Monangambee, a pan-African microcinema based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Alicia Abieyuwa Bergamelli participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time. Choosing 10 films was a challenging yet reflective process, and the ones left out were due to limited time and space, but there are countless constellations of short films still to discover! Here are 10 films I find myself thinking about from time to time, for their story, composition, and form. These are films that made me love cinema even more.
