Alemberg Ang

After teaching for ten years, Alemberg Ang shifted into film production. His filmmaking is shaped by his passion for socio-civic issues and Philippine arts and literature. His films seek to give cultural minorities a voice in world cinema. Working with filmmakers mostly on their first and second features, his filmography includes: Chie Hayakawa’s Renoir about a Young Girl Coping with Her Father’s Illness (2025) and Plan 75 about Japan’s social systems and elderly care (2022), Sze-Wei Chan’s 10s Across the Borders (2025), and JT Trinidad’s Honey, My Love, So Sweet (2025).

Alemberg Ang participated in “Greatest” Short Films of All Time 2025, a first-ever poll of its kind as a collective love letter to the art of short-form moving image. yanco and Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, in collaboration with Talking Shorts, invited filmmakers, curators, distributors, critics, and scholars worldwide to nominate 10 audiovisual works under sixty minutes that they personally consider the “greatest” of all time. This was Alemberg Ang’s submission:

As I am not a cinephile who has seen many films, especially the older ones, I can only rate the ones that I have seen and these films were made fairly recently. I have also added two of the films that I have produced in the line-up as these are the two films that I am most proud of.
